SCOTT Nicholls is back at Peterorough – and in an ironic twist he will start the season at reserve!

Nicholls has agreed a deal to replace the injured Bradley Wilson-Dean and is sure to be a trump card at reserve.

One of Britain’s best ever riders spent the second half of last season with the Crendon Panthers after leaving Wolverhampton.

He said: “I’m delighted to be back with Peterborough this season in a team that looks so strong on paper.

“I was prepared to sit it out and just ride in the Championship and bide my time and see what comes up once the season starts.

“I feel for Bradley (Wilson-Dean) and it’s a blow for him that his season is over before it’s begun but he’s taken advice from his surgeon to rest and I’m sure he will come back stronger once the shoulder is properly healed.

“I had a few good scores with Peterborough last season after leaving Wolves but if I’m honest I was playing catch up with engines after having a set-up that worked around Wolves and other small tracks.

“I’m working on getting an engine that will work around Peterborough knowing I will have a full season this time. It’s a great club to ride for and the track is superb to ride.

“The fans deserve better than what they got last season but we had no luck at all with injuries to almost all the side at some stage or another.

“The side looks strong this season with plenty of quality. I think I start the season down at reserve but the plan isn’t to stay there long but whoever does ride at reserve will mean we should be strong all season.

“The promotion are a pleasure to deal with and I’m looking forward to working with Rob (Lyon) as a team manager.

“Colin (Pratt) is someone I know well from my days with Coventry and he’s always straight with his riders and is always on our side.”

Nicholls is the sixth signing and joins Niels-Kristian Iversen, Rohan Tungate, Hans Andersen, Chris Harris and Michael Palm Toft.

PETERBOROUGH SPEEDWAY are delighted to have Crendon Timber as main team sponsors and City Auction Group as club sponsors.
