JOSH BATES UPDATE

Wednesday July 17, 2019
PETERBOROUGH rider Josh Bates has had a minor operation to repair damage sustained in a horror crash in Monday’s bruising battle with Belle Vue.

Bates has escaped serious injury but scans revealed a small bone in his neck had been moved and an operation was the only way to put it back in place.

The operation lasted two hours on Monday night and he is now resting up.

He said: “I realise it could have been worse, I’m a lucky lad.

“I’m feeling good mentally, just battered and bruised physically!

“At least I know the injury has been corrected and I can start to look forward and try to get back racing as soon as possible.

“I’d also like to thank everyone who has sent messages with their good wishes and support, I really do appreciate it.”

Crendon Panthers are expected to have Charles Wright back for Monday’s trip to Wolverhampton - but with Bates and Hans Andersen out and uncertainty over Aaron Summers boss Carl Johnson is assessing what options he has to bolster the side.

The club are also aiming to secure the three new dates for outstanding September home meetings very soon.
