PETERBOROUGH are back on the road on Thursday for their latest Sports Insure Premiership match at Ipswich (7.30pm).
The Crendon Panthers have already visited Foxhall once this season in the KO Cup and will be hoping for far better fortunes than in the 33-57 defeat they suffered in mid-May.
Since then the Witches have undergone something of a dip in form, including a home defeat to Wolverhampton which has put them under pressure in the race for the play-offs.
But they still boast the strongest spearhead in the Premiership with Jason Doyle and Emil Sayfutdinov both having been outstanding so far in 2023.
Elsewhere in the Ipswich line-up, Erik Riss is due to make his official top-flight comeback after missing the majority of the season so far due to illness. The Witches had brought in Ben Barker as a temporary replacement, but that period has now expired and Riss is back racing.
And the Suffolk side have also made a change in their Rising Star berth with Dan Thompson – recently dropped by Leicester – coming in to replace his twin brother Joe.
Panthers’ own Rising Star Jordan Jenkins unfortunately sits out the meeting with the wrist injury he aggravated at Belle Vue on Monday, which also forced him out of two Championship matches for Oxford this week.
Sam Hagon, who has recently joined Championship club Birmingham, stands in at reserve and Panthers are otherwise unchanged from the match in Manchester, where Vadim Tarasenko starred with 12 points on his debut.
Manager Rob Lyon said: “Jordan’s injury on Monday was a blow and that really seems to be following us around at the moment, but that’s the way it is – it’s been a bit of a headache all season really.
“But it was good to see the way Vadim rode at Belle Vue, he certainly looks a good prospect, so we move on to Ipswich and see what happens there.”
Panthers are back home at the East of England Arena on Monday (June 26) when they host Belle Vue.
