PETERBOROUGH make a quick return to Monmore Green to complete their June Premiership schedule against Wolverhampton on Monday (7.30pm).
The Crendon Panthers were last in the West Midlands three weeks ago when the meeting had to be abandoned due to track conditions after an aborted attempt to run Heat 1.
Since then, their season has taken a major turn for the better with seven points from three meetings, although there was a degree of frustration at Ipswich on Thursday when a potential away win turned into just one point as Panthers were once again involved in a Super Heat after a 45-45 ‘draw.’
Monmore remains a tough venue to visit even though Wolves dropped home points earlier in the season, and their recent results on their own circuit include wins over Sheffield and Belle Vue.
And Panthers will still be without two of their regulars, with Michael Palm Toft and skipper Scott Nicholls on the sidelines after their crashes last week.
They operate the rider replacement facility for Palm Toft at No.1, meaning all other riders can take one of the Dane’s outings, whilst King’s Lynn’s Richie Worrall stands in as a guest for Nicholls. Meanwhile Jordan Palin returns at reserve.
Manager Rob Lyon said: “We’re now finishing the full quota of first round matches away from home, but there’s a long way to go and we’re still capable of getting up there into the play-off positions.
“We’ve put ourselves in a better position psychologically, confidence is back in the team, and hopefully we can kick on.
“Before the injuries and the problems, we would have been looking to win at Ipswich because we’ve always gone well there, but with the team we had, I felt we did well to get a point – it felt like we did more really!
“That was frustrating because we really needed three, and at the moment it would be nice to get a fully fit seven-man team again.”
