PETERBOROUGH racer Chris Harris is relishing his racing return after spending months acting as Daddy Day Care!
Harris has been looking after his young family with no track action possible during the latest lockdown.
But he was back on track at the weekend with practice sessions at both Scunthorpe and Leicester.
“It’s great to be back on the bike and I’m looking forward to the season starting with Peterborough,” he said.
“I’ve been spending time at home with the family and it’s been great, but being out and about at the weekend in the fresh air riding my bike has been great for me.
“The family are probably sick of me now so they’re probably pleased I’m going out to race again!”
Harris will be busy this year with racing at both Premiership and Championship level as well as the World Longtrack Championship.
“That’s just how I like it,” he said. “Hopefully I can stay busy and have a good year, that’s the aim and I’ll be doing everything I can to help Peterborough have a good season.
“The team looks good, we’ve got lots of experience but that’s fine, I’m sure we’ll be strong and push hard for those play-offs.
“I’m enthusiastic and after missing last year in terms of a full league season I just can’t wait to get going at Peterborough. It’s a nice feeling to be heading back to a club I know with a promoter I’ve respected throughout my career in Colin Pratt.
“I’m looking forward to meeting up with all the Peterborough fans again and it will be a great moment when we do.
“You could tell everyone was so happy to be riding at Leicester on Monday, it’s like one of the first steps back to some sort of normality with speedway coming back.”
