HARRIS SALUTES SUPPORT TEAM

Thursday October 01, 2020
PETERBOROUGH racer Chris Harris has paid tribute to his sponsors and pit crew for making his hectic schedule happen.

Harris raced at Belle Vue in a Premiership standard challenge match last Thursday, then went to Poland for the World Longtrack Championship on Sunday and dashed back for the rearranged British Final back in Manchester on Monday.

And amongst all the logistics with travel, his machinery let him down and after flying into Manchester on Monday morning he missed his opening ride because two bikes packed up.

He showed typical resilience, however, to bounce back with 10-points from his remaining four rides to make the semi-final and retain hopes of a fourth British title.

Sadly he missed out by finishing third with only the first two going through to the title shootout and his night was over. The meeting was won by Wolverhampton man Rory Schlein.

Said Harris: “It was a hectic few days that’s for sure, but I like to be busy.

“We had some bike problems but my sponsor helped me out big time and sorted me for the British Final.

“I didn’t put any pressure on myself or anything like that because I’ve been there and done all that before.

“I’ve always struggled around the new Belle Vue track but I felt I had more speed for the British Final. I have to thank my sponsor and the team around me who worked so hard on making the weekend happen.”

Harris finished 10th overall in the World Longtrack Championship after notching 10-points in the second and final round on Sunday.
