PETERBOROUGH mascot Max Perry underlined his rapid development with a terrific victory in the British Youth Championship at Leicester on Saturday.

Perry won the second round of the 125cc class at the Paul Chapman & Sons Arena, going unbeaten in his final four rides of the meeting.

Mechanical problems had denied him off the start-line in the Final at Scunthorpe a fortnight earlier, and he had further issues in his opening ride before coming to grief on the last lap.

But Perry hit back strongly to win his remaining three outings in the qualifiers, including a tremendous effort to get the better of Ace Pijper on the run to the line in Heat 5.

Victory over Sonny Springer in Heat 8 ensured Perry topped the scorechart on countback, and he then made no mistake in the Final to get the better of Springer once more, with Ben Trigger in third place after Pijper fell.

The series continues at King’s Lynn next Sunday (August 30) and Panthers fans wishing to take in the action can purchase limited tickets from .
