PETERBOROUGH man Bradley Wilson-Dean has been crowned New Zealand Champion for a fourth successive year.
Charismatic Wilson-Dean headed to Oreti Park Speedway as red-hot favourite and was dominant from the word go - winning all five of his qualifying heats at a canter to book his place in yet another final.
An electric start from the outside gate saw Wilson-Dean take the lead and never look back. Former Poole racer Andrew Aldridge took second with Ryan Terry-Daley capitalising on a Jake Turner mistake to sneak into third.
Wilson-Dean has set his sights on earning a spot in the Speedway Grand Prix Qualifiers following his victory in Invercargill.
“Winning this title for a fourth time is a great achievement and one I’m proud of. It’s always great to race in front of my family and friends as they don’t get to see me race much when I’m in Europe.
“The shoulder felt good and it didn’t give me much trouble all night which is pleasing. I haven’t spent much time on a bike since I’ve been back so there’s always a question on how fit I would be in a meeting like this.
“The aim now is to get myself sorted with a spot in the Grand Prix qualifiers representing my country. The past couple of years haven’t been great so I want to put that right and progress further this time around.”
