PETERBOROUGH rounded off their Premiership campaign on a high with a spirited 48-42 home win over play-off bound Wolverhampton.
It ended a run of 12 straight defeats for the Crendon Panthers on what was a solid final team display.
Every home rider contributed at least one paid win apiece on another brilliant night of entertainment at the East of England Arena.
Panthers did fall behind on more than one occasion, but demonstrated good character to keep pegging the Wolves back.
Level with 12 Heats gone, Panthers then struck successive 5-1 maximums to seal the deal with a race to spare.
Delighted team boss Carl Johnson said: “It was fantastic for the supporters and it was fantastic for the riders.
“It was a tremendous performance from all the team and everyone was involved.
“We’ve worked hard this season and to be in the position we are has been difficult.
“But we’ve finished off with a fantastic result like that and I’m really pleased with everyone.
“Wolves were on it tonight, they made us work hard for it but credit to the boys who dug deep to get a deserved win.”
